Ferry Terminal

This was a 50,000 square foot project for a multi-use building located southwest of Navy Pier in Chicago. The primary function of the facility would be to act as a ferry terminal for lake ferries from Michigan and other states. River boats would serve this terminal as well allowing for water-to-water transit connections. As part of the FAT philosophy, every space in the building would have multiple uses so the facility could be occupied as long as possible every 24 hours.

Greater Grand Crossing Charter School

A 80,000 sq. ft, 600 student charter school for Chicago International Charter Schools in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood of Chicago. The goal was to use precast concrete to create a sophisticated school of the future. The facade allows the concrete frame to permeate to the exterior, translating into a sense of structural openness and transparency that reverses the idea of a school as a warehouse for children but rather a place to set them free.

Vosges Haut-Chocolat Factory

This was a two story chocolate factory project on West Fulton Market in Chicago for the Vosges chocolate company. The goal was a facility where the public could experience the process of making chocolate and the company could connect with its customers through public retail consisting of a women’s clothing boutique and a chocolate store. Public experience is accomplished through a tour suspended above the factory operations.

Covert House

This was a two story vacation house project on Lake Michigan in Covert, Michigan. The house features a full-width balcony with access to the living space and every bedroom. This lake front house can be enjoyed year round, with an indoor heated resistance swimming pool and basement recreation room for use during winter.

The initial project was done as a hand drafting exercise and expanded into 3Ds Max at a later date. The following animation was rendered in 3Ds Max and edited in Adobe Premiere. The animation begins with a orbit over the house followed by an interior and exterior tour. This is followed by a flyover showing the various programmatic elements, with the conclusion being a sun study of the master bedroom.
